Choose either garage/shed crime prevention advice below:

Garage break

  • If you have a burglar alarm at home, ensure it extends to cover the garage too.
  • Add external lighting to cover the garage door.
  • If your garage has windows, keep these closed and locked
  • Additional mortice locks can be added to ‘up and over’ garage doors to improve security
  • If you are considering replacing your existing garage door for a higher security door, check out the list of police approved suppliers here: Secured by Design
  • Shed break

  • Sheds are often broken into by burglars who will steal tools to use to break into your house. Keep your shed locked and obscure any windows with window film, paint, or net curtains.
  • If possible, choose to store expensive items such as lawn mowers, hedge cutters, bikes and tools more securely in a garage.
  • Overtly mark your tools with your postcode so they can be identified as belonging to you. TOOL SECURITY SILVER | CRE Products
