Information wanted about drug dealing in your local area

Drug dealing in your local area

Dear Resident

We are appealing to local residents for information about drug dealing.

We know that illegal drugs destroy lives. We all see the damage they bring to our communities. And there is a clear connection between drug dealing and other crimes such as theft and violence.

We’re committed to tackling all aspects of illegal drugs, from neighbourhood dealers to organised gangs. We need support and information from the community, together we can make a big difference.

Drug harm is not just about tackling those possessing or supplying drugs, it’s also about tackling the other offences that go hand in hand with drugs. These can include:

  • Child neglect and exploitation
  • Cuckooing
  • Serious violence
  • County lines
  • Drug harm can have a widespread effect and it’s important we tackle the issue head on to protect the most vulnerable in our communities. If you’re worried about someone or you need help yourself, there’s plenty of help and advice available.

Here are somethings to look out for in your neighbourhood.

  • Have you noticed people in the area who appear to have unexplained wealth such as expensive cars, designer clothes and jewellery but do not have regular employment? This can also apply to young people who may be being used as “runners” for the drug dealers, buying them items in return for their work distributing the drugs.
  • Do you see houses in your area who have regular visitors who stay for only short amounts of time?
  • Are there houses where the windows are always covered, people coming and going at strange times?
  • Did you witness anything?  Did you see anyone or any vehicle(s) in the area that looked suspicious? If so, then please contact Northamptonshire Police on 101. Alternatively you can report online here.

You can also pass on information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Security tips and crime prevention advice can be found on the Northamptonshire Police website and on the Neighbourhood Watch website.

If you would like to contact your local policing team, search in the Your Area section of our website.
