Information Request

INFORMATION REQUEST

Northamptonshire police have received several complaints regarding the use of off-road motorcycles. These motorcycles have been used in a manner that has caused nuisance and alarm to the residents in and around Kings Heath.

We are therefore looking for information regarding off-road motorbikes being used in and around Kings Heath and on West Northants Council land.

It has been identified some of these off-road motorbikes have been coming from local addresses on Kings Heath and are being kept at these addresses, which not only would be a significant fire risk to the property, but would also be considered, if applicable, a breach of the tenancy agreement.

If you have any information in relation to the locations of these off-road motorbikes, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or e-mail your local Neighbourhood team at:

NeighbourhoodTeamNorthampton@northants.police.uk

Or via Northamptonamptinshire talking

‘The police can seize a vehicle on a road if it may have been used to commit crime or has been left in a dangerous or unlawful position, or in a dangerous condition.’

These motorcycles are not in accordance with the Road Traffic Act 1960 and use of them should cease immediately.

Northamptonshire police may also act against any vehicles and/or owners of the vehicle being used to transport these motorcycles.

‘Power to stop and seize a vehicle which a PC/PCSO has reason to believe is being used in a manner which contravenes sections 3 or 34 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (careless and inconsiderate driving and prohibition of off-road driving) and is causing alarm, distress or annoyance under section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002.

Thank you for your attention.
