Animal Welfare Concern - Update |
Animal Welfare Concern - Update Northamptonshire Police have carried out a thorough investigation following a report that a tortoise had been deliberately set on fire.
Officers have completed extensive enquiries, including reviewing available CCTV footage, conducting house-to-house enquiries in the local area, and arranging for the animal to be examined. Veterinary professionals, including experienced veterinary nurses, have also been consulted as part of this investigation. Following these enquiries, there is no evidence to support claims that the tortoise was set on fire. We understand that reports of this nature can cause understandable concern within the community, particularly where animal welfare is involved. We would like to reassure residents that all appropriate steps have been taken to establish the circumstances, and the findings do not indicate any harm of this kind. Enquiries are ongoing to locate the owner of the tortoise, and we would encourage anyone who believes the animal may belong to them, or who has relevant information, to please get in touch. Thank you to those members of the public who provided information and assisted with our enquiries. If you have any further concerns or information relating to animal welfare, please continue to report this to us via 101. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
