Dear Resident

We have received reports of a concerning incident in Northampton involving an individual falsely claiming to be a Northamptonshire Police officer.

The person reportedly gained entry to a property by presenting a “warrant” on a mobile phone. Believing him to be a genuine officer, the occupant allowed entry, and the individual then conducted a search of a room. Following the incident, items were discovered to have been stolen.

⚠️ Please remain vigilant and take the following precautions:

Always ask to see an officer’s official warrant card or ID, not just something shown on a phone.

Take your time to carefully check identification.

If you feel unsure or uncomfortable, do not allow entry.

Contact Northamptonshire Police directly via 101 (or 999 in an emergency) to verify the officer’s identity before granting access.

Sharing awareness can help prevent further incidents. Please pass this message on to friends, family, and neighbours, especially those who may be more vulnerable.
